London Film Association First Monthly Meeting

  The first meeting of the London Film Association was held at Dancing Greek Restaurant. Thursday April 11th, 2013.

  Guest speaker was filmmaker and producer Geoff Hart who shared his experience and offered tips for writing a successful script, getting acting opportunities and using online resources.

  Dale Henderson City Councillor - Ward 9 in his opening remarks indicated that that at this time the Association aims to get people to work together as we are not competing with anybody else. He later asked that by the next meeting we look at 3 scripts to review and hopefully discover project potential out of this.

A group of volunteers will set a time and organize the next meeting.

Dale Henderson P. Eng., Ward 9 City Councillor, offers ways to cure negative media that is damaging the reputation of people or providing the public with their opinions and analysis which are often confused with news by the public. "In the internet age, I can now communicate with my Ward and the public directly. It is now time for a media integrity commissionaires to protect the public's communication interest" Said Dale.

Hi Dale,

I'm not in your ward, but I'd like to commend your efforts via YouTube to engage the public on your background and beliefs. While I may or may not agree with your stances on issues, your act of making the effort is appreciated. I wish that more of our elected civil servants would jump on the available opportunities with mediums such as the internet.

For anyone, it takes courage to take a public stand on an issues - especially when you know it will be held to high scrutiny. Perhaps you know of this quote which comes to mind in this circumstance...

"It is not the critic who counts: not the man who points out howthe strong man stumbles or where the doer of deeds could have done better. I'm glad to have the opportunity to hear the message straight from your mouth as opposed to third-party filters such as the corporate media. In terms of public engagement, I believe this is the way of the future and I am encouraged by public figures who express their views directly, openly, and honestly.

But despite the above quote, it is my responsibility as a citizen to always be critical of the government - if we are merely passive, then de-facto we give our acceptance to potentially bad policies - look at human history. The general question moving forward is whether the populace will keep falling for tired-old political rhetoric or will a revolution of ideas (such as we are starting to see today) bring about better governance in time?
