Email Feedback

I have received this feedback by email and wanted to share it with you.



Hi Dale,

I'm not in your ward, but I'd like to commend your efforts via YouTube to engage the public on your background and beliefs. While I may or may not agree with your stances on issues, your act of making the effort is appreciated. I wish that more of our elected civil servants would jump on the available opportunities with mediums such as the internet.

For anyone, it takes courage to take a public stand on an issues - especially when you know it will be held to high scrutiny. Perhaps you know of this quote which comes to mind in this circumstance...

"It is not the critic who counts: not the man who points out howthe strong man stumbles or where the doer of deeds could have done better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly, who errs and comes up short again and again, because there is no effort without error or shortcoming, but who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, who spends himself for a worthy cause; who, at the best, knows, in the end, the triumph of high achievement, and who, at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat." ~ Theodore Roosevelt

I'm glad to have the opportunity to hear the message straight from your mouth as opposed to third-party filters such as the corporate media. In terms of public engagement, I believe this is the way of the future and I am encouraged by public figures who express their views directly, openly, and honestly.

But despite the above quote, it is my responsibility as a citizen to always be critical of the government - if we are merely passive, then de-facto we give our acceptance to potentially bad policies - look at human history. The general question moving forward is whether the populace will keep falling for tired-old political rhetoric or will a revolution of ideas (such as we are starting to see today) bring about better governance in time?
